CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, March 6, 2009- Addison Whitney employees will partner with local Charlotte area businesses Bella Tunno and Ashland Custom Homes Saturday March 7 to complete renovations for the Charlotte Rescue Mission. The event is part of a new companywide volunteer initiative, AW Helping Hands.
Volunteers from Addison Whitney will spend a full day renovating and improving a space the Charlotte Rescue Mission uses as a half-way house for individuals who have completed a 90-day drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. Six new dorms will be created, allowing the mission to accommodate 24 more clients per year. Additional support will be provided by the generous contributions of Lowe’s, GAP, Outback, Treadway Painting, Beuerlein’s Pro Fitness, Metrolina Greenhouses, Linda Construction, Yenithing and many more.
The AW Helping Hands team encourages Addison Whitney employees to participate in community service projects. Events are planned in coordination with the needs of local nonprofit organizations. AW Helping Hands began with a kickoff project in October 2008 as part of Hands on Charlotte Day. Addison Whitney employees and their families took part in a school beautification project for Irwin Elementary School. The team completed a variety of tasks to upgrade the exterior of the school including flower planting, planter bench construction and re-mulching the school playground.
“It is hugely inspiring to see so many of our employees pull together to help others during such difficult times.” says Kristin Everidge, Manager of Visual Branding at Addison Whitney and an AW Helping Hands team leader. “Many Addison Whitney employees are already apart of volunteer programs. AW Helping Hands allows us to volunteer together as a team and build stronger relationships that will benefit our work environment, while making an impact in our area.”
In addition to participating in community outreach events, Addison Whitney employees also contribute to the annual Giving Tree collection for the Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services.
