The Task
Addison Whitney was commissioned by Microsoft Corporation to name its new desktop information management software. This ground-breaking software organizes and manages your electronic mail, calendar, tasks, contacts and documents and allows easy communication with others.

Verbal Branding
The creative team at Addison Whitney recommended the name Outlook. The name conjures up the idea that the product will provide an all-encompassing view, a portal for the daily tasks at hand. The name is ideal for the software as all of the activities take place in just one window. The operator is able to perform and view a multitude of tasks simultaneously. By making multi-tasking and organization so user-friendly, Microsoft creates a more positive outlook for its users. Addison Whitney also created the Exchange identity for Microsoft.
