The Company
Motorola, Inc. is engaged in providing technologies, products and services for mobile phones. The company’s portfolio includes wireless handsets, wireless accessories, digital entertainment devices, wireless access systems, voice and data communications systems and enterprise mobility products.

The Task
Motorola engaged Addison Whitney with the task of developing a name for a new cellular device. The product is the first iDEN (Integrated Digital Enhanced Network) device to offer the ease of push-to-talk with a slider. The design of the device allows for easier access to the keyboard with the added security of keeping keys protected when not being used.

Verbal Branding
Addison Whitney devised the name "Debut" for the new device. The new brand alludes to the product's design of being the first device in the industry to combine the iDEN and slider.
